December 2015 - 1st Amahoro (Peace) Tournament
Recap of the Final Tournament

In total 8 matches were played out! And each day of a match the members of the communities around were more involved and engaged in cheering their favorite teams. Thus on Dec,19th, 2015. The final started with a preaching of the Gospel from John 3:16 About God's love. So it was after this prayer that everyone on the ground joined hands with his neighbor for a prayer for Burundi.
Run of play
The match started just 10:00 and ended at 11:00. The teams playing the final game were: NURU CONFORTI FC and B. These teams were well prepared and the 2nd minute, the CONFORTI team B scored his first goal and that was quite awakening for spectators and the teams.
At the 20th minute the FC NURU team scored the goal to equalize with CONFORTI B.
The game ended with a score of 1-1 for both teams. So they proceeded to shooting penalties and free throws have favored CONFORTI B for five penalties on four NURU (5-4).
Observations
After the match we made the tournament closing ceremonies. Trophies were given. More counsels were shared from various community leaders. All came back to the main objective of the gathering “Soccer for Peace and reconciliation in Burundi.”
From the public administration, the representative of the Urban commune of Ntahangwa handed the cup to the captain of CONFORTI B and to the second, FC NURU received an envelope.
The administrator of the urban commune of Ntahangwa thanked the organizers and supporters of the Amahoro tournament. He then asked that these activities can continue in all the urban areas of Ntahangwa and expand them further to the neighborhoods that are manipulated by politicians. He also recommended the urgent need to organize peace seminars to the Leaders of the Areas of his urban commune of Ntahangwa.
After a vote of thanks , through the Soccer club leaders, their representative recommended the following: Continuous youth empowerment programs and their availability to help in making sure we have quick access to administration processes. More youth oriented programs that will help them to not only live together but also to build up their family through skills that they would have learned through such programs.(Vocational training).He also urged The Amahoro tournament team to go national wide!
For Children:
Children welcomed the initiative and requested to be able to invite others!
They really want to see the Amahoro Tournament become a seasonal tournament in order to keep making them meet with their friends from other suburbs for training, playing and coaching in various activities as part of strengthening peace in our neighborhood.
